Radflo Shocks Rundown

Posted by Sean Reyes on

We're diving deep into Radflo Shocks, after much demand and waiting for the right opportunity, Shock Surplus is taking its 2025 Toyota 4Runner through the journey of 2.0, 2.5, and adjustable Radflo Shocks to get a true feel for Radflo's valving and durability of their race-level designs.

Radflo custom tunes every shock that goes out the door according to the driver's comfort needs, performance wants, and how to balance it on a daily driven vehicle in our case. The Shock Surplus 2025 Toyota 4Runner needs to be comfortable on the daily drive, while still performing some towing duties on the weekend, without being too harsh on the trails.

We're starting basic with the entry level 500R 2.0 Shocks, which are equivalent in size of body and piston to a Fox 2.0, or Eibach Pro Truck 2.0 coilover. Lets Unbox the Radflo 500R Shocks

Radflo Shocks Rundown

2.0 IFP

These shocks are your entry level performance option, good enough to be a noticeable upgrade over stock, but not beefy enough to really get aggressive offroad. The sweet spot of these shocks are to provide better response or comfort for the daily drive, while still staying composed offroad in the lower or moderate speeds.

2.0 Reservoir

The addition of a reservoir to the 2.0 enables more sustained offroad use when the terrain gets rough, rocky, and rutted out. The consistent movement of the suspension on rough terrain creates heat in the shock, and the reservoir helps keep the shock cool.

2.5 Shocks

Thicker, more support whether for heavier vehicles, heavier loads, or faster speeds. A thicker shock doesn't mean only more oil volume, it also means more variation in valving (tuning). This allows the shock to be tuned for a wider variety of comfort ranges, and velocity variability.

2.5 Reservoir Shocks

The addition of a reservoir provides more oil volume to maintain cooler temperatures while offroad. These shocks are geared towards heavy offroad use, where speeds pickup and the suspension starts to move a lot, generating a lot of heat to the shock.

2.5 Adjustable Shocks

- Adjusting compression through the reservoir allows fine tuning of the primary shock piston. Radflo has a low speed, medium speed, and hi speed adjuster, these different adjusters address a wide range of use-cases. Low speed addresses driver inputs like turning, braking, towing loads. Medium speed attempts to address a mix between driver inputs and terrain as well. Hi-speed adjustment addresses big and fast inputs like hitting big bumps offroad.

Custom Shocks

The beauty of working with Shock Surplus and Radflo Shocks is being able to create and deliver a shock package specifically tailored to your vehicle's needs, and for the driver's style. Whether this is for a long travel setup, rock crawler, or vehicle application that doesn't have an off-the-shelf performance option - we can make it happen.
