The Bilstein 6112 and 5100 combination is one of the most dramatic ride-quality jumps we've experienced on our F-150. Factory suspension on the 14th-gen F-150 gets underdamped and mushy over repetitive bumps, then punishes you with harsh bottom-out on larger impacts—all while letting the truck wallow and roll through corners. This 60mm digressive monotube setup transforms that experience, tightening up control and delivering consistent performance whether you're commuting, towing, or pushing harder on dirt.
What you get with the Bilstein 6112 & 5100:
- 60mm digressive piston that improves small bump sensitivity while controlling larger impacts—the large piston makes daily chatter effortless while soaking up the hits
- Monotube design ensures consistent, fade-free performance in all conditions—no temperature swings, no damping loss under load
- Better control and precision behind the wheel that rivals 2.5" race-series shocks in an accessible package
- Planted, confident handling at speed with excellent recovery characteristics; handles towing without wallow or fade
- Durability backed by Bilstein's limited lifetime warranty and the large 60mm body's increased oil capacity and cooling
Who these are for:
The F-150 owner who values performance, durability, and real-world capability without overpaying. Daily drivers who occasionally tow or take the truck off-pavement, truck owners who want the best shock for their money, and anyone prioritizing control and precision over maximum comfort. This is the Bilstein sweet spot—serious capability at an approachable price.
Who should look elsewhere:
If maximum on-road comfort is your only priority, the Eibach Pro-Truck Stage 2R offers a more plush, OEM-like feel. If you're running 35"+ tires and doing sustained high-speed aggressive off-road, step up to the Bilstein 8112 with Zone Control for more progressive damping support. We carry both, and our team can dial in the right setup for how you actually use your F-150.

The Expert's Opinion
"Bilstein shocks aren't always the softest ride out there, but if you want precision handling, confidence at high speeds, and rock-solid stability under load, they're the best in the game.
They're built to perform. At Shock Surplus, we back every Blistein we sell – because we know they won't let you down"
Questions? We've got answers
Bilstein shocks make your vehicle respond much better than stock shocks. Are they super soft and squishy on the road? No. They give you confidence because your truck or SUV reacts exactly how you expect when you steer or brake. That’s why we say 'Confidence through Control.' If you like having more control and a sportier feel while driving, Bilstein is the right choice. But if you want the same or more comfort than the soft factory shocks, we can recommend other options
Bilstein 5100 shocks can’t be adjusted for stiffness or rebound. But on some trucks and SUVs (like the Tacoma, F-150, or Tundra), they can adjust the front ride height. This lets you reuse your stock coil springs and still lift the front of your vehicle by up to 2.5 inches, depending on the model. Always check the product details for the exact fit on your vehicle
Click the 'Select Your Vehicle' button above the 'Add to Cart' button to make sure the shocks fit your exact vehicle. If needed, the site will send you to the right shocks for your ride. If your vehicle has been lifted, use the dropdown menu to pick the correct lift height. For example, if you have a Rough Country 6-inch lift kit, choose Front 4–6" and Rear 3–4" (the rear is usually smaller than the front). Still not sure? Our sales team is happy to help.
Bilstein shocks are one of the most durable and reliable shocks manufactured here in the USA. German engineering mixed with extreme abuse testing has resulted in a shock absorber that is designed to last 100,000 miles or more. We stand behind every Bilstein shock we sell and offer an expedited warranty process for any issues surrounding your purchase from Shock Surplus.
