Overview
ICON Vehicle Dynamics'rd Raptor Rear Hydraulic Bumpstop System has been through extensive R&D, testing, and tuning before ICON could introduce a product we were confident in labeling the most comprehensive Raptor bumpstop solution on the market.
What does the bumpstop do? In short, a bumpstop'ob is to control the final up travel of the suspension. Many Raptor owners are using their vehicles beyond their intended design and are often loaded with additional weight, which when combined results in VERY high suspension impact speeds. The factory rear bumpstop is made of foam rubber and is limited on how much energy it can absorb. Ford Raptors have a couple of unique issues that are problematic for proper control of bumpstop forces. The factory rear bumpstops are mounted in a manner that allows for the rubber to squish out to the side of its mount, allowing metal to metal contact. The frame surrounding the OEM bumpstop mount is not capable of these kinds of forces and with repeated abuse can lead to frame damage not covered by warranty.
The more robust solution is a hydro-pneumatic bump shock or "air bump". ICON'ydraulic bumpstop uses oil and nitrogen to do two tasks: function as a spring and a shock. An internal nitrogen charge is compressed when the air bump is compressed to act as a spring, similar to the OEM bumpstop. The difference is hydraulic air bumps are adjustable and can be tuned to have low impact forces at the beginning of the travel, and ramp theoretically to infinity at the end. Unlike the factory bumpstop, ICON'ydraulic bumpstop incorporates oil along with a damping piston internally to control the amount of energy that is returned to the suspension, reducing the vehicles tendency to kick. The oil and damping piston also control the compression of the air bump relative to speed which is important for Raptors hitting obstacles at extreme speeds.
Our resulting dynamic system is one that is soft and compliant allowing full suspension travel at slow speeds, yet at high speeds will create very high forces to resist bottoming out. ICON'ord Raptor hydraulic bumpstop system uses a 2.5" travel air bump allowing the shock additional distance to control energy, and does not interfere with suspension travel under normal driving conditions. The clamshell bracket design with triangulated cross braces not only gives a rigid mounting point for the air bump, it helps support a known weak part of the frame prone to failure.

The Expert's Opinion
"We've been big fans of Icon's total suspension approach since running the CDCV kit on our Tacoma back in 2017. Icon regularly provides the most travel in their shocks and suspension systems when compared to competitors, giving more lift height, or more usable travel."

Questions? We've got answers
ICON shocks are tuned for performance-first ride quality, which means you can expect a ride that feels firmer and more controlled than stock, especially on the street. They reduce body roll, brake dive, and overall vehicle movement, giving your truck a more planted and responsive feel.
Where ICON really stands out is off-road. These shocks are designed to handle higher speeds and rough terrain, so you’ll notice excellent control over bumps, whoops, and uneven surfaces, with less fade during repeated impacts. Instead of feeling soft or floaty, the suspension stays composed and predictable.
Overall, ICON shocks are a great fit if you want a sportier, more aggressive ride with strong off-road capability. They may feel firmer than some comfort-focused options, but they deliver a high level of control and confidence both on and off the pavement.
Some ICON shocks are adjustable, but it depends on the specific model and series. Many of ICON’s standard shocks come with vehicle-specific valving and no external adjusters, designed to deliver strong performance right out of the box without needing tuning.
However, ICON offers several higher-end options with adjustability. For example, shocks equipped with CDC (Compression Damping Control) valves provide multiple levels of compression adjustment via a knob, allowing you to fine-tune the ride for different terrain or driving styles.
At the top end, ICON also offers advanced systems like CDXS or CDEV, which can provide more precise manual adjustments or even electronic, real-time damping changes based on driving conditions.
In short, not all ICON shocks are adjustable, but many upgraded versions offer a wide range of tuning options—from simple knob adjustments to fully electronic control.
Click the 'Select Your Vehicle' button above the 'Add to Cart' button to make sure the shocks fit your exact vehicle. If needed, the site will send you to the right shocks for your ride. If your vehicle has been lifted, use the dropdown menu to pick the correct lift height. For example, if you have a Rough Country 6-inch lift kit, choose Front 4–6" and Rear 3–4" (the rear is usually smaller than the front). Still not sure? Our sales team is happy to help.
ICON shocks are built as rebuildable, high-performance shocks, so their lifespan is a little different than basic “replace when worn out” shocks. For vehicles that are mostly driven on the street, you can typically expect around 50,000–80,000 miles before a rebuild is recommended to keep them performing at their best.
If your truck sees frequent off-road use, heavy loads, or aggressive driving, service intervals can come sooner—sometimes significantly sooner—since heat, dirt, and repeated impacts accelerate wear.
The key thing to know is that ICON shocks are designed to be serviced, not thrown away. With proper maintenance and periodic rebuilds, they can deliver years of consistent performance and continue working well long after that initial service interval.
