The Expert's Opinion
"King Shocks are everything you'd expect from this legendary brand, right out of the box. Comfortable on the daily drive, while handling faster speeds off-road as they're meant to. Custom tuning isn't a necessity for most drivers, but its good to know that it's available.

INFORMATION
Questions? We've got answers
King shocks are known for delivering a very plush, smooth ride with exceptional control, especially when driving off-road at speed. Compared to most other suspension options, they tend to feel softer over small bumps and chatter, while still having the capability to handle larger impacts without harshness.
On the street, King shocks still ride well, but they feel more performance-oriented than stock. You’ll typically notice a more planted and controlled feel with less body roll and better stability, though you may feel a bit more of the road compared to softer factory suspension.
Off-road is where King really stands out. Their valving is designed to absorb repeated hits and larger obstacles with ease, keeping the truck composed and predictable even at higher speeds. The result is a ride that feels smooth and confidence-inspiring in rough terrain, especially for aggressive driving or heavier builds.
Overall, King shocks are best described as plush yet highly capable; they prioritize comfort over small bumps while delivering serious performance when the terrain gets rough.
Some King shocks are adjustable, but not all models come with adjusters. Many standard King shocks are factory-tuned with fixed valving, designed to deliver a very balanced ride right out of the box without needing adjustment.
That said, King offers optional compression adjusters on many of their 2.0, 2.5, and 3.0 shocks. These adjusters use a simple knob (usually on the reservoir) that allows you to stiffen or soften the shock’s compression damping depending on your driving style, terrain, or vehicle load.
In short, King shocks can be either non-adjustable or adjustable depending on the configuration—and if adjustability is important, you’ll want to look for models equipped with the compression adjuster or plan to add it as an option.
Click the 'Select Your Vehicle' button above the 'Add to Cart' button to make sure the shocks fit your exact vehicle. If needed, the site will send you to the right shocks for your ride. If your vehicle has been lifted, use the dropdown menu to pick the correct lift height. For example, if you have a Rough Country 6-inch lift kit, choose Front 4–6" and Rear 3–4" (the rear is usually smaller than the front). Still not sure? Our sales team is happy to help.
King shocks are designed to be rebuilt and serviced over time, not simply replaced; so their lifespan is best thought of in terms of service intervals rather than total mileage. For most daily-driven trucks, it’s common to see around 40,000–50,000 miles before a rebuild is recommended to keep them performing at their best.
That said, how long they last depends heavily on how you use them. Frequent off-road driving, high speeds, or heavy loads can shorten that interval, while mostly on-road use can stretch it out. In extreme cases like racing, shocks may be serviced very frequently, while street-driven setups can go years between rebuilds.
The key difference with King is that they’re built to last long-term through maintenance. With proper rebuilds when needed, it’s not uncommon for a set of King shocks to deliver years of reliable performance well beyond typical replacement-style shocks.
