Ram 2500 RS9000XL Adjustable Shocks Install & Review

Posted by Brandon Sevestre on

During the process of changing out the stock shocks to the Rancho RS9000XL on our power wagon, we lined up the stock shocks next to some alternatives from Rancho. We also get into exactly how to measure your shocks on the vehicle in order to get ride height of the shocks, and how that translates to the shock specifications you may see on our site.

This is particularly useful if you are the 2nd or 3rd owner of a vehicle, where you may be unsure of any suspension modifications made by the prior owner. Shock Surplus was specifically started to help modified truck owners get the right shocks for their vehicle, we can help get this figured out for you!

The big question we’re wondering ourselves here is whether or not the RS9000XL is a worthy upgrade over the Power Wagon’s factory Bilstein shocks. While Rancho doesn’t specify parts for this 2020 Power Wagon, we found a few options that match mounts and lengths just fine. We’re not worried with valving mis-matches since Rancho’s catalog doesn’t indicate hemi/diesel fitments on these Ram 2500/3500, which seems to indicate their valving profile is very broad and not make-model-trim specific after speaking with peolple.

Bilstein vs Rancho
